Investor and Campus Apartments CEO David Adelman 

 

An entrepreneur and private investor, David Adelman is the CEO of Campus Apartments, co-founder of FS Investments, founder of Darco Capital, and a limited partner of the Philadelphia 76ers. Considered a preeminent leader in student housing development and management, David Adelman has grown Campus Apartments to include properties at 80 schools in 23 states while redefining the college living experience for thousands of students. Most notably, he led efforts to redevelop Philadelphia's University City neighborhood.

Mr. Adelman co-founded and serves as vice chairman of FS Investments. The alternative investment funds manager has more than $38 billion in assets under management. In addition, through Darco Capital, he has directed more than 50 investments in private equity and venture capital spanning multiple sectors.   

As a limited partner with the 76ers NBA team, David Adelman is spearheading a proposed $1.3 billion arena project in Philadelphia's Market East neighborhood. He serves as chairman of 76 Devcorp, the development company tasked with locating, designing, and securing approval to build the sports and entertainment venue. Mr. Adelman projects the arena build would not only revitalize the area, but also add 9,000 construction jobs and 1,000 permanent jobs while benefiting the adjacent properties. 

 A former Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in the real estate category for Greater Philadelphia, Mr. Adelman is actively involved with multiple community organizations. He is chairman of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia and serves on the University City District Board of Directors and Penn Medicine Board of Trustees. He is also a past chairman of the Philadelphia Holocaust Remembrance Foundation, through which he led development efforts for the Horwitz-Wasserman Holocaust Memorial Plaza on the Ben Franklin Parkway.  

Mr. Adelman is currently a member of the Young Presidents' Organization and Real Estate Roundtable. He holds a bachelor of arts in political science from Ohio State University.
